OK, actually it was physically painful this morning. Monday the -26F combined with the defroster to crack my trucks windshield from side to side. It looks like there was a little crack the center from a stone or salt rock that started it. This picture was taken this morning. Like the cool vintage thermometer I stumbled across that tells me how stupid it is where I live?

Last winter I saw -33F on my way home one night. Once I got home I had to run outside without a shirt on. I can confirm that it is physically painful to be outside with no shirt when it is -30, even if you're outside for only 30 seconds.

I live in a really cold spot. It is a wide shallow valley and I live at the bottom of it. In the late winter when it gets clear at night and isn't windy all the cold air sinks and it gets really cold in the mornings. Like -20 or -25F is really common around sunrise, but then it warms up fast once the sun comes out. Last night it was just because it was cold all over. I think the official low was somewhere around -15 or so.
